Need help figuring out the problem with my central ac (air conditioner) unit. Compressor fan works "sometimes
Hi,
I started noticing the problem about 1 month ago, when the ac would make a loud high-pitched noise (with a low "gurgling" in the background) out of the blue... I would just turn it off, wait a while and turn it back on - and it would work fine. Once, I let it run despite the noise and it seems that it just "gave up" at one point. the noise stopped and the air coming out was not cold - basically fan only...
So, I finally got up to my roof and with a friend in the apartment, asked her to turn it on. First the fan turned, then it slowed down, then it sped up again... and finally stopped altogether. we did this a few times and I figured there's something wrong with the fan... Ac works about 40 percent of the time - more if I give it constant "breaks"...
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I can't really afford to call the ac man at this point.
Am I putting the entire unit at risk by trying to run it (it's very hot here!)?
Any tips?
Is there a part I can buy???
I "helped" the fan a little with a stick - and while it worked a few times (for a few seconds) - other times it didn't make it turn...
Could it possible just need to be "oiled"?!
Gosh, I'm so lost. I don't want to end up with a bigger cost (this is my mom's condo, so no help from landlord...) if I end up breaking the AC altogether but at the same time I can't stand not to run it! I live in Miami of all places!!! :(
Thank you guys for the help so far. Just a little detail - the noise I can hear in the house originates up top - only it is much louder up there. I heard it myself. I'm pretty sure the condo unit is fine, it's pretty new. It's the compressor up top that is causing problems. Thanks and I look forward to some more answers!!

This just started - AC Air conditioner Compressor doesn't turn at idle - VW CABRIO, GOLF, RABBIT, CABRIOLET?
The compressor on our 1998 VW Volkswagon Cabrio doesn't turn when the car is idling. When you give it the gas it kicks in at about 1500-2000 rpm. This just began to happen about a month ago. Anyone seen this in VW's before?

Is using water cooler fan in my computer room HARMFUL for the internal parts of the computer system?
I'm thinking to use water cooler fan in my computer room in this summer when I'll be sitting there in hot weather. I don't have AC (Air Conditioner).
So just wondering if the humid environment in my room will be harmful for the internal parts of the computer system like CPU, giving it rust or any other damage.
Is the humid environment, made up by water cooler fan in my room, during summers, harmful for my computer system?
