The last type is an evaporator, or swamp cooler, which uses water vapor to cool the air as it passes through the unit. Each type of unit operates in a different way, but all of them require routine examination by a professional.
Some simple problems that cost very little to fix can cause the unit to struggle to work properly and lead to more serious air condition repair. One of the simplest types of maintenance involves checking the levels of refrigerant. If the unit is low, it will not operate efficiently, but your repairman will simply add the correct amount and type of cooling agent to fix the problem. With systems that incorporate ductwork, routinely changing duct filters will also prevent larger issues. Filters should be changed more often in homes with several furry pets or in dry, dusty climates. You may also want to have a professional inspection of the ducts to make sure they are clean and clear of debris.

1997 Honda Civic Air Conditioning Troubleshooting?
My air conditioning is not cold (barely if at all below the current temp) but the compressor is running continuously as long as the a\c is switched on.
When the compressor is on the low end pressure drops to zero. With the compressor off the low end pressure says its fill according to my gauge.
Any ideas?

HVAC system is 'automatic climate control' type. Set the temp and the car does the rest. Here's what I know:
Heat Works Fine
System has been tested, no freon leaks.
Problem: A/C does not kick on regardless of temp setting.
the unit blows warm air. This was sporadic at first, no cold air at all now.
Took car to saturn dealer, they claim they cannot determine if the problem is with Body Control Module or HVAC control head. I have a 50/50 chance, replace one, if that does not work, replace the other. Cost $500 each. (no refund if the first fix does not work).
They tested the BCM and claimed it was having trouble communicating with the HVAC control head, but they couldn't guarantee that is the problem.
Any thoughts? I don't mind paying for repairs, this seems a little out of line.

Any thoughts? I don't mind paying for repairs, this seems a little out of line. My thought is to purchase a HVAC control head from a slavage yard and give it a try. If that doesn't solve the issue at least I eliminated the control head at a minimal cost.
