Split Air Conditioner
In Australia, air conditioners are almost a necessity for coping with the long hot summers. The split system air conditioner is one of the most popular and widely used air conditioners. Simply put, a split air conditioner is one that has been divided into two parts which are joined by special piping, the first part is the outside compressor; it pressurizes the refrigerant gas which in turn absorbs all hot air in the building and pushes it outside through the pipes. The second part is the indoors unit, this unit delivers the cool air into the interior of the house through the pipes after expelling hot air. The split air conditioner repeatedly does this cycle to keep the room cool all the time. More information about the split air conditioner and how to install them can be found by contacting the local air conditioning professional.
REVERSE CYCLE SPLIT SYSTEM AIR CONDITIONER: Unlike the split air conditioner, the reverse cycle split system air conditioner does both functions of cooling and heating the building. The cooling is done in the same manner as the split air conditioner. To achieve a heating effect in the house, the reverse of the cooling process is done by the air conditioner-it expels cool air from within and pushes in hot air.
INVERTER AIR CONDITIONERS: The inverter air conditioners are those split air conditioners which have an inverter as part of the air conditioner. The air conditioner's compressor will run flat to attain a given temperature, like 250c, the inverter helps the air conditioners' compressor to run at the appropriate speed in order to maintain the room at the specific temperature levels. In the absence of an inverter, the split air conditioner's compressor will run until the desired temperature then turn off after attaining the temperature levels. This makes the air conditioner do more work and the inside temperature fluctuates more without much control by the user.
MULTI SPILT SYSTEM: Most of the split systems have one indoor unit serving one outdoor unit or compressors. Multi split systems have one outdoor unit serving several indoor units. This means that more special pipes are needed to connect to the several indoor units from the one compressor. The one outdoor compressor is able to serve several rooms at the same time. You will need to locate the outside compressor as centrally as possible for the rooms it will be cooling.

How do I tell if the condenser on my car air conditioner system is bad?
I have a 2000 Cadillac Deville and it makes a clicking or grinding noise when I turn on the A/C. It was putting out cold air for awhile after the noise started but started blowing only hot air. I had the A/C recharged and it is blowing cold air but the noise is getting louder. Is this a condensor problem?

Replacement for AC condenser fan motor that gets noisy when wet.?
The original, and two replacement, fan motors in the outside (compresser) unit of my Miller central air conditioner system all made a loud noise when wet. At first, I thought it was a bad motor, but a replacement didn't help for long. The second replacement worked a day, but the next day was very noisy.
I finally traced the problem to one of design. The motor is open in the bottom. When it rains, water hits the fan under the motor and gets splashed up and into the motor. When there is water in the motor, it gets extremely noisy, sounding like a diesel truck motor.
There is no question that this is the problem. On a dry day, when the motor is quiet, if I spray water up into the motor (yes, I switch it off first) and then start up the unit, the motor gets noisy.
Can I simply replace the motor with a sealed unit of the same power, shaft size, RPM and rotation and solve my problem?
Has anyone ever seen this problem before? Is there an easier fix?

What is the part called on an air conditioner system that you have to replace when replacing A/C lines.?
The part supposedly removes moisture from the system. Also how do you know if the part needs to be replaced. A friend told me that it needed to be replaced if the system had been "Open" for any length of time. He called it a drier. Is this correct?

Problems with central air conditioning?
Are built-in central air conditioner systems supposed to leak condensation or water at all (at the main system itself, not the vents)?
