Computer Installation
Computer installation is the fundamental step, which flutes life to your dead hardware component. Computer installation may be studied under two categories, the former is the hardware installation and the later as software installation.
Let's get acquainted with the hardware installation under this article. This will be helpful for making self installation. After going through this article you will be able to perform installation of hard drive along with making partition.
You must consider some basic rule. If you are going to install two hard drives or IDE devices over the same IDE Channel (controller), you need to configure the jumper. They should be set as Master and Slave so that they are able to perform with the same IDE cable. On an average there are two IDE Channels (Primary and Secondary) on one motherboard for a total of four IDE devices allowed per system. Let's assume, if there is one HD and a CD-ROM integrated then you can assemble two more hard drives. You can also do installation of extra hard drive and IDE backup devices.
Steps for initiating computer installation
STEP 1. Turn off the power and remove all cables from the back of the computer.
STEP 2. Gently remove the case screws and remove the case cover.
STEP 3. Secure the Hard Drive into the mounting bay using appropriated screw.
STEP 4. Analyze the configuration of the computer for the presence of any extra IDE port on your current IDE cable(s). If there is one IDE cable, which is already engaged with two IDE devices then you need to incorporate extra IDE cable in order to facilitate the entry of additional hard drive.
STEP 5. Plug in the new or spare IDE port to the new hard drive.
Note: Always insert Red pin closest to the 4-pin Power.
STEP 6. Insert the P4 Power cable into the new hard drive.
STEP 7. Without making mistake put the case cover back onto the case and secure it with the case screws that were previously removed.
STEP 8. Plug all required cables into the computer and then power up the system.
STEP 9. Explore Computer CMOS and use the Auto IDE Detection feature and then save the changes and exit. This will reboot your computer.
STEP 10. Hence, the hard drive is mounted and connected.
Creating partition is another important step towards computer installation.
STEP 1. After getting the hard disk recognized under BIOS, you will need a Bootable Diskette which must contain Files: Fdisk.exe and Format.com. The diskette you use should be a bootable diskette.
STEP 2. Place the bootable diskette into the 1.44MB floppy drive and turn on the computer.
STEP 3.. Wait for the "A:>" prompt, type DIR and it should show three files, Fdisk.exe, Format.com and Command.com.
STEP 4. Now, a Partition is needed so that DOS and Windows will see the new hard drive. At A:> type Fdisk then press enter.
STEP 5. At the Fdisk Menu, create a new partition and select #1 and press Enter.
STEP 6. Then Select #1 for Primary DOS partition and press Enter. Similarly user can increase number of partition.
STEP 7. Fdisk will ask for the size of the partition various sizes of partitions to a hard drive.
STEP 8. Fdisk will ask the End-user to give desired name, if a name is not desired the press Enter when prompted. Reboot the system.
Above computer installation steps would save your valuable time and money.

How are we using resources?
This is regarding conservation and wastage of resources.Resources are things/entities useful to mankind and living beings. There is a limited amount of available recources. We must minimise wastage of resources.Even if there are abundant resources, they better be saved for future. In many ways, possibly,we are already trying to do so,but there are still some wrongdoings.eg,Meat consumption is unwise. We can have a sufficient diet without meat. Also there are soyabean chunks tasting just like meat.Meat is inefficient use of land ,as that land can be used to raise substantial amount of crops. Also, tobacco smoking and alcohol consumption are wasteful.(There are other better forms of entertainment).Tobacco smoking is not only injurious to health,it consumes tobacco, paper which is wastage of land.Alcohol consumption is wastage of food as also indicated in the story Imp and the Crust. Also we should not purchase things(eg,clothes) excessively. The above are common forms of wastage of resources.Private cars and airconditioners are also unneccessary consumption of resources. They require metal, other building material(which may be recycled,in that case ,not total wastage),energy to manufacture, energy to run the machine. The principle of conservation and minimizing wastage of resources should apply in everyone's ethics.

It may be negative points, but it is positive as well:retaining and preservation of resources for us.Let us accept true problems; not ignore them and pretend they do not exist.

Large Domestic Airconditioners; Fixed Inverter vs Full Inverter?
On our new house we specified we wanted a ducted refrigerated system with an inverter unit. When it came to the selections (signing off pages of documents) in the air-conditioner section it said "Fixed Inverter" we didn't think much more of this and signed away.
They installed it, and it turns out after talking with the installer and manufacturer apparently this unit is a fixed speed unit with a inverter compressor (soft-start) rather than full-inverter unit like I wanted. They also said for my application it is just as good as a inverter unit for a $1500 less. Unfortunately the cost to now change it over is a lot more than $1500.
Has anyone had one of these "Fixed Inverter" units for a while, what is your experience with it? Do you get large temperature swings?
Jekin - Thankyou for your diplomatic reply but you didn't really answer the question. And soft starters are not not worthless, any induction motor without a soft starter (whether it be VVVF, LRS or other) will draw up to 5 times it's FLC on start-up, but I am sure you already knew that. That's why the lights dim when an old wall unit starts up.
