Does anybody know the basics of a central air conditioning unit?
I start air conditiioning school in a couple months. I want to get to know at least the basics right now. So I started researching online. I learned a lot from a few websites. I learned about the basic parts, like the compressor, condenser, evaporator, expansion device, and tubing. BUT...in not one website does it explain simply where the air first goes. I want to know the logic. In your home...what component does it go through first, second, third, etc. Its amazing that not one web site I found explains this simple education. Thanks to anyone that could help.

which is the 20 (micro)FD terminal on a capacitor?and what is the purpose of the resistor on the terminal?
I have a replacement dual Capacitor of 20(micro)FD +15(micro)FD +/ - 5%oval, Dual 370/440V. There are three terminals on the capacitor. One of them is "HERM", second one is labelled "COMMON", and another one is Labelled "FAN." I would like to know which terminal is the 20(micro)FD Terminal?
In case you might be wondering I am trying to repair my Keeprite central air conditioning Unit and I would like to know how come my original Capacitor has a resistor connecting from the 20(micro)FD to the Common terminal and my new Capacitor doesn't ? What is the purpose of the Resistor?

Help with central air conditioning unit making a loud noise?
My central air unit has started making this loud noise when it comes on. The fan will barely turn. Sometimes the fan will catch "and" start turning, then the noise goes away. The air coming out is nice and cool. Other times, the fan spins slowly, then stops all together, and the noise goes away, with no air. We've stopped turning it on...any ideas on what it could be and how much to fix it?
