my electric bill are 400 this month and i keep it on 79 and i have 2 fans in every room ,extra inslation , h-eff light bulbs,washer,dryer,appliance and my house is only 1400 square feet does any one have any ideas what i should do ?

High efficiency air conditioners seem to dehumidify poorly?
I recently datalogged a high end variable speed air conditioner for delta t performance over 48 hours. Data collected every two minutes. I found that very soon after the compressor started, delta t rose to about 20 degrees F, BUT it dropped precipitously within two minutes to about 10 degrees and declined at a slower rate thereafter for about 20 minutes until it again restarted and jumped to 20 degrees for two minutes and repeated the rapid decline. Is this unexpected? My best guess is that this system is a poor dehumidification performer. But it is likely highly efficient as a cooler.

Am I paying a good price for this air conditioner central air and heat?
Rheem 18 seer dual stage 4 ton (actually 2-2tons) variable speed air moover and 18 seer coils. installation. removal of old unit. New electrical wires and new duct work. duct work is 1400 dollars. The unit is right at 10000 dollars. 11300 including taxes. 1000 dollar rebate and 500dollar tax credit brings it to 9700. This seems high, but this is a high efficiency air conditioner. Any guru's out there know if this is a good price? The area is Texas. 10 year waranty on all parts. Forgot to mention yes they are redoing the high pressure and low pressure lines. I am going from R22 to the r-420a i think it is so all that has to be replaced. The duct work is being replaced because it is 30+ years old if i want to get 30+ years out of this AC then it made sense to me to upgrade to new stuff. The alluminum foil around insulation on the flexible duct work is rotting so I don't think 30 years life left in it.

Can I replace my heat pump with an air conditioner?
We just moved into a house that has a heat pump and a high efficiency gas furnace. when the heat pump runs, whether its for heating or cooling it uses alot of electricity costing us a small fortune. I would like to replace the heat pump with a regular high efficiency air conditioner. My question is what else would I need to change to make this work? would I need a different a-coil, Would I need a different thermostat? Is there anything else I should be aware of?
