Another thing to consider prior to your purchase is the size. This will of course depend on the area you need to be cooled. The bigger the area coverage, the bigger the unit needed. How long in terms of usage per day you intend to use your new air conditioner will also factor in. Should you expect to use it for extended periods of time, then you may be better off with a bigger sized one to ensure durability.

How the unit will be installed will be the next factor to consider. Depending on whether it is a split type or window mounted models, additional costs can differ. This is due to additional labor cost of hiring a technician or handyman should you not be able to do it yourself.

Consider also the energy rating of the unit you are buying. Most appliances have energy ratings done by an accredited international agency, which shows the energy efficiency the appliance. A higher rating will mean more cost savings on your part, and of course extra money to spend on other things.

Apart from savings and cost also think in terms of responsibility in purchasing an air conditioner. Buy one that does not use Chlorofluorocarbons that destroy the ozone layer. You should not only buy smart, you should also buy responsibly. Even though in the back of your mind it may seem a trivial thing, it actually contributes to a much greater whole.

Although on the surface it looks simple enough to buy an appliance like an air conditioner this is not always the case. Always go through the above recommended checklist so that you will make a wise purchase, and also feel a bit better for yourself at the same time. I'm always hot and I have headaches frequently, what could it be?
Ok, recently I've been getting really hot, even when the air conditioner is at 60 or lower, and everyone is telling me that they're cold. I'm also having headaches, I thought that I was getting them because I need to get my eyes checked, but then why am I getting so hot? I get dizzy very easily. I'm a 24 year old woman, and a mother of 3. Any ideas what it could be? My mother says it could be high blood pressure, but I eat no salt at all, so I don't know where it's coming from.

Help! Air conditioner and heater, along with new duct work put in the ceiling doesn't work?
We had a complete new system installed in our home. I ask for the best effeciency they offered. I have now had them out 10 times in 3 months. Duct work sloppy. Needed more returns. Needed adjustments. Needed adjustments. I replaced back sliding glass door with French doors. Re-calked all windows and installed new weather stripping in front and side doors. Lowered thermostat to 72. Added max insulation to attic. All that said my old heater saw a reduction of 20%. The next month, my $13,000 new furnace (13 yr old one would cost approx. $700-$900 to repair and ground ducts rusted out) cost me and INCREASE of 47% usage not to mention the loss of the 20% reduction of the old furnace. The next month saw a 33% INCREASE and no 20% reduction like the old furnace. AND the weather according to statistics found on line the weather in Oklahoma was almost 9 degrees warmer this January. Does anyone have suggestions. I did find out my efficiency rating on the new unit was only 80% not the most like I had ordered. That would be 96.8%. The company responds immediately but does not solve the problem. Plus my daughter's and two other rooms average only 60-65 degrees while others are 75 degrees and thermostat set on 72 degrees. Dampers were also later installed. They have lastly moved the furnace location and now rooms that were fine are cold and cold ones somewhat warmer but not warm enough. The company wants to UPGRADE the furnace. What do I look for besides the installer falling through my dining room ceiling. (literally) Since posting this yesterday, the installer has offered to rip out new furnace, upgrade 80% efficiency to a 96.6% variable speed, and have installers unpack attic this time and repack. I have now found additional nails protruding from my living room ceiling and feel comfortable they will resolve this. I PRAY! The company has a good BBB and is continuing to work with me. Oh, I just received this months gas bill and it was 1 decatherm more than last year. Doing better but not there yet. Hoping tomorrow brings results.

Why does my car jerk when at a light?
I have a 2001 Lexus is 300. And whenever I slow down, stop at a light, or pull into a parking lot my car vibrates and jerks me. My air conditioner also makes a loud sound whenever I start it. I don't know of those are associated with each other. Help!
