Should you expect to use it for extended periods of time, then you may be better off with a bigger sized one to ensure durability.

How the unit will be installed will be the next factor to consider. Depending on whether it is a split type or window mounted models, additional costs can differ. This is due to additional labor cost of hiring a technician or handyman should you not be able to do it yourself.

Consider also the energy rating of the unit you are buying. Most appliances have energy ratings done by an accredited international agency, which shows the energy efficiency the appliance. A higher rating will mean more cost savings on your part, and of course extra money to spend on other things.

Apart from savings and cost also think in terms of responsibility in purchasing an air conditioner. Buy one that does not use Chlorofluorocarbons that destroy the ozone layer. You should not only buy smart, you should also buy responsibly. Even though in the back of your mind it may seem a trivial thing, it actually contributes to a much greater whole.

We recently bought this air conditioner that is supposed to cool 1600sq. ft. but it doesn't feel that cold...I'm worried that it might not work in the summer heat! Does anyone else own this air conditioner? We bought it at HomeDepot. Your experiences/ review of it would be very helpful...does it work for you?

why does air conditioner cut itself off?
The LG window air conditioner will be on and suddenly cut off, then later will come back on. The cord has a plug end with a reset button and test. The reset button doesn't seem to want to "click" in, or is the problem with the unit? I thought of replacing the GFI end with a standard 220 male end. Any help appreciated. The window unit is 220 v, & is not set on energy saver mode. It stayed off about 3 hrs. earlier before coming on. I don't believe it has a built-in thermostat?My idea was to replace the plug end with an end that didn't have a reset & test button on it. I thought perhaps it may be defective & causing this. I installed an LG window air conditioner?
I am in South America and it is very hot here! I paid some guys to put a hole in the wall so i could fit in a window unit. Its in but I dont get any cold air. i had it on the ground and turned it on before installing to make sure it worked and it blew cold air every few moments. now nothing at all. and i cant find the product online. it is lg w182 cm. How do I get cold air and a good nights sleep?

Cost to run a window air conditioner for 1 hour a day?
I just bought an 8,000 btu LG windows air conditioner. I finally convinced my parents to get me one, only because its Energy star rated, and it says it only costs 65 dollars per year, But that just seems to good to be true. I know it has to cost more than that to run. I love having this thing in my room. I live in a desert area, on the top floor. So it gets extremely hot up here. They said that if their electric bill is any higher then 4 dollars a month, I have to get rid of it. So, how much do you think it would cost to run it on low, for 1 hour a day? also, my parents keep the central air at 78 degrees, which to me is too hot.
