Looking For The Right Heating Air Conditioning
Many people rely very heavily on their air conditioning and heating systems, and may not even realize how much of a daily impact they have on their lives until a problem occurs and they no longer work as expected. For many people, it is time to call a contractor who specializes in heating air conditioning in Portland. It may seem a little intimidating to find a good contractor, but it isn't as hard as it may seem.
When you are looking for the right contractor to work with your ventilation system, you may want to start with an internet search. If you look for 'heating air conditioning in Portland' you will be able to generate a list of contractors near you that specialize in the work you need to have done. You will be able to see where they are located and may be able to find a lot of good information on their websites. Some may include customer referrals or testimonials, which can help you get a feeling for how other people have felt about their work. Often, you can find price lists for services, which can really give you something to compare as you look at other companies.
Quality is one of the most important aspects of this type of repair, and you want an experienced contractor to do the work for you. Finding out how long a contractor has been in business and how much experience he has providing services for heating air conditioning in Portland on systems similar to the one in your house will help you feel confident that the quality of the work will be good.
It is also a good idea to check on the licensing and insurance coverage of the contractor before you hire him to do the work for you. You want to know that everyone will be safe and that accidents and damage related to the repairs will be covered by his policy.
Be sure to get all estimates in writing so that you can compare prices and services between companies. If you feel that each of the companies you are looking at has plenty of experience and can be expected to do an excellent job in providing repairs to your heating air conditioning in Portland, then you can look at the amount of time it will take and the prices that will be charged to help you make your final decision. Be sure to read the entire contract before signing it, and make sure that the contractor also signs it so that you are both protected.

Venting portable air conditioner through hinged window?
Thinking of getting a portable air conditioning unit, which uses a hose to expel the hot air through an open window. I see that the fitting kits are all design assuming you have a sliding window, which would allow the window to remain sealed. However, I'm sure it must be a common problem, but how do people deal with a hinged window? The best way I can think of so far is to cut a sheet of perspex to match the size of the open window, then cut an appropriate hole through which to feed the hose. It seems this would be quite tricky in practice, as some way of securing it to the window frame is needed, and I can't really go drilling into the frame as it's a rented property. So I'm wondering if anyone has come up with a clever solution yet, or are there any kits that can be bought?
Thanks

Portable air condition is making room MORE humid.?
So I picked up a portable air conditioner the other day. Its the Sharp CV-NH13 if that matters.
The thing is, it's making the room very very humid. The air gets cold in the room, no problem there, but it's got to be 5 times more humid in that room than the unconditioned rooms in the rest of the house. It's not even humid outrside, just in this room.
It has a built in dehumidifier but, according to the manual, does not cool if that mode is selected. Any idea why it's doing this?
