Air Conditioner

Split System

Things to Consider For Split System Air Con

The air con, split system is the perfect choice for larger air conditioning applications. With evolution of air con, the split system has become the better option since it is cheap and user friendly. Basically, the split system splits the cold side from the hot side. The composition and working of air con, split system: The first part, also known as the compressor or condensing unit, is normally housed outside the building. It consists of cold coil and expansion valve which are placed into a furnace or air handler. Air is blown by the air handler through the coils which collects and directs away any hot air in the building.

In large buildings like malls, warehouses, departmental stores among others, the compressor at times is so massive and is preferably placed on the roof from where it is connect to the several units that services smaller units in the building. The second part consists of a long spiral duct that is cylinder like with a fan to blow air. In addition, there is a weather resistant compressor and control logic. The advantage of this unit of the split system is that it reduces noise inside the building so that it is calm and quiet with the noise on the outside. The other advantage is that capacity can be considerably increased by enlarging the coils and compressor. As good as the split system is, it may not work for very large premises.

This is because very long ducts begin to cause lubrication problems in the compressor or the amount of duct work becomes unmanageable. Duct free split system: For homes with no ducts, duct free air con, split systems, also known as mini-splits, could come in handy to regulate the air in the building. The package has the advantage of being very quiet, efficient and safe for home use. Duct free split systems can also be used for commercial purposes for spot cooling or in unique load situations. Other considerations: Having mentioned the above, it is important to consider a few factors before deciding on the type of air con, split system (among others). First and foremost, you need to predetermine the very type you need, given the market availability options. The efficiency of the conditioner of your choice is paramount.

In addition, professional or technical guidance on installation, the capacity or output, and your financial capabilities would come in handy in making an informed decision. Last but not least, ensure that a check light is fixed on the filter for your air con, split system.

Heat Pump Installation Labor Charges?
I am looking at heat pumps online, and they seem to range from $1999-2800 for a good split system. Yet I have heard that around our area, it costs about $3500-6,000 to have one of these installed (which typically takes about day or so). So is the labor on the installation a whopping $1500-3000 just for one day's work? Or is something else going on here?

Can I use a dual mini split system and add indoor units in phases?
I need to use one indoor unit now, but will be adding a second zone within one year. Don't want two singles (expense and 2 outdoor units). can I add the second indoor unit later and operate one unit on the dual outdoor unit? Steve, do you mean the "inverter technology" - for the heated water? One HVAC fellow said I could not run just one unit on a dual system. I wonder if I will be able to find someone to install only one indoor on a dual outdoor. Thinking about Mitsubishi, Sanyo.... Thanks for your help!

What kind of air conditioner is cheaper in the long run?
Should I get a split system for each bedroom or should I get a multisplit unit that connects to each bedroom. Here is some info: House is 4 bed 2 bath and 2 living areas. 220 square metres. One story brick house. Already have air conditioning in the living areas and master bedroom so I only need 3 units I am doing one for each room Each bedroom (other than the master, which already has a/c) is about 10-12 square metres. I am only using the air conditioner in the daytime of summer and 24 hours in the winter. Average temperature in Ipswich (in Celsius) summer day 30 c summer night 20 c winter day 20 c winter night 10 c And will a multisplit unit be compatible with an indoor unit made by a different company or would it only be compatible with units by the same company? And the units I am looking at ar by daikin and the split unit is 2 kw and the multisplit is about 12 kw Sorry if spelling is bad, I am writing this on an IPhone.
